CONCERTS

WomanSong, Carry the Song and CrossRoads
These three shows are for adult audiences.  They are musical autobiography pieces.  WomanSong tells stories of fathering and includes stories of Joseph Campbell, Michael Gorman and David Whyte.  Carry The Song tells stories of a woman's phases of life; "Seed Time", "Birth Time", "Work Time", and "Dream Time". CrossRoads is a new show (2007) and tells the stories of transition moments when we choose new paths.

Four Cinderellas
Cinderella is one of the most beloved stories of all time.  There are over one thousand versions collected from all around the world.  This tale of lost riches regained through patience and goodness and magical help has found a home in hearts everywhere. In this Cinderella show Jennifer tells four very different versions of the story. An Algonquin Cinderella about Little Soot Face who can see the  Invisible Being living across the lake in a beautifully painted wigwam.

An Appalachian version from Kentucky in which Cindy Ella's Stepmaw is poison mean to her and mean mouths her all the time. A Scottish version about a young boy who wants desperately to play the bagpipe but his two stepbrothers laugh at him saying, "Your hands are too rough to play music. Go and tend the sheep thats all you're good for."  And a hybrid tale fashioned from a number of Eastern European versions where magic bones and helpful birds bring beautiful Mara to her happy ever after. As an introduction to these stories Jennifer will share  the well known French variant, The Little Glass Slipper  written by Charles Perrault in 1697.

Jennifer Armstrong is an accomplished musician as well as storyteller and each story will be told with a different instrument; frame drum, fiddle, bagpipe, banjo and movement. All ages will enjoy this program. Remember, this tale is not about having small feet but about having a large heart!

Celtic Songs and Stories
I share my Scottish border clan heritage in a program of mouth music, ballads, bagpipes, fiddle and Celtic tales.

Building Bridges
Following the grief of September 11th, I took a close look at my role as an artist in strengthening community and working towards peace. This program grew out of my commitment to do all I can through songs and stories to make our world a more wonderful one.

A celebration of story and song from the Appalachian mountains including such folk toys as the limberjack, handkerchief mouse and cornstalk fiddle, along with plenty of rollicking fiddle and banjo and a sit down square dance.

Midwinter Rituals
From December through January we celebrate many festivals of Light and this program looks at family and community generosity and togetherness at this time of year. I have evolved a totally secular show over the years but can include Christmas and Hanukkah material if desired.

With Irish fiddle, stories of the wee folk, poetry, shamrocks and limericks this program celebrates the Irish in us all.

The month of March is Women's History Month and a time to celebrate women's voices. In this program, I share stories, songs and poetry of strong women. Women with passion, vision, humor and determination to carve out their own space in the world. "...I have carved a space for you behind my eyes and see you each time I am startled by happiness."

Green and Growing
A program designed for Earth Day that delights in the beauty of our earth and sheds awareness on environmental concerns without being heavy handed. Themes addressed are; nature, the seasons, ecology, recycling, endangered animals and our role as caretakers of our planet.
