Courage: Songs and Stories of Empowerment
Our global community spends $800 billion a year on wars or war preparation
- a sum that comes out to $25,000 a second. What if we spent these
resources and our time creating a more just and beautiful world? In this
program I'll tell stories of individuals who made choices reflecting
Ghandi's call to "be the change you want to see in the world" and sing
songs that declare, "my life will be sweeter when your life is sweeter."

The earliest settlers in Maine were the "Red Paint People" who lived here
3 thousand years ago. And the rest of us are...from away!? Where did we
come from? What brought us here? What keeps us here? This lively program
includes songs and stories from the Abnakis, English, Scottish and Irish
settlers, Franco-Americans and a dash of Swedish, Czech, Somalian, Thai
and other new Mainers. We'll sing about blueberries, bears, lobsters,
lumbering, tall pines and rocky coasts. A celebration of Maine and its
people!
