More than any other artist I know, you are completely yourself
both on stage and off. Songs of Belonging was pure joy for me.

ONE WOMAN SHOWS

These three autobiographical theater pieces speak to what is essentially human in all of us. Through a deeply personal interweaving of poetry, music, songs and stories they explore the landscapes of our hearts, our families and our communities.

Bagpipe, fiddle, banjo and guitar music threads through each show giving a compelling texture to stories of courage, humor and possibility.

WomanSong
I wrote WomanSong in 1992 just before my father died from Alzheimers. It is a story of fathering and the importance of mentors on our journey.

"WomanSong will remain indelibly as one of my most unforgettable evenings in the theatre. The audience rose as one in a heartfelt standing ovation. We applauded not just because we wanted to but because we needed to -- it was our way of giving back to this remarkable performer who had given us so much."

Carry the Song
This second autobiographical offering was written in 1994. My song; Dancing in the Circle is the framework for the show and each of the four verses introduces a new chapter of life: maiden, mother, creative artist, wise elder.

Seed time, birth time, work time, dream time
We are dancing in the circle of time without end

Songs of Belonging
This new show was just written in 2001 and continues the journey of discovery begun in the other two pieces. I untangle more Catholic-Druid memories, share more musical inspirations and move forward, one step at a time, towards belonging to this earth.
